When your kit arrives - check to make sure everything is there!

The battery ships at the storage voltage - so it  needs to be charged to full before using it to avoid damaging the battery. HOWEVER do not leave a fully charged battery sitting longer than 3 days without using it. So only charge to full the day of or the day before you plan to use it.

1) Always fully charge the battery before EACH USE - even if you only used it a little the time before. (learn all about the battery here: https://support.swiftpaws.com/en-US/articles/important-battery-information-11806)

Keep your pup(s) inside while you set up and test the course

2) When you set up the course be sure to include the tethers (or a loop of the line) when you stake pulleys and drive in place. See: https://support.swiftpaws.com/en-US/swiftpaws-home-step-by-step-setup-a-z-22078

See why tethers are necessary here: https://vimeo.com/712428630

3) String the line through the pulleys and tie on the flag. See our recommended knots here: https://support.swiftpaws.com/en-US/how-to-tie-the-line-flags-onto-the-line-22112

4) Place the battery in the drive and turn it on
5) Turn on the remote controller and wait for it to sync with the drive
6) Test the course and adjust the tension to be the very lightest possible tension: https://support.swiftpaws.com/en-US/how-to-adjust-swiftpaws-line-tension-22090
Once the course is set up and tested it's time to bring out the pups!

We recommend taking the time to introduce SwiftPaws to your doggo at their own pace. Taking extra time in the beginning saves a lot of heart ache and time trying to undo any issues caused by moving too fast. The battery has its limits - learn what your particular battery limits are to avoid damaging the battery.

Stop to recharge before the battery voltage drops to its minimum voltage.

For Home Original that's about 10 minutes of motor run time which is about five 90 second play sessions.

Recharge the battery no more than 2 days before you intend to use it again
- Do not leave a fully charged battery sitting more than 2 days before use
- Do not store the battery plugged into the drive

SwiftPaws kits are designed to be set up and taken down every time.
- take at least the main drive unit and remote controller into a climate controlled area when not is use. The drive and remote controller house electronics that are not water or weather proof.

- You may opt to leave the field pulleys staked in place - this is fine - you can even hose them off when they get dirty - but NOT THE MAIN DRIVE UNIT
- We also recommend winding up the line after each use. If you leave the line out, it may bring water into the drive which is not water proof. It will also cause the line to deteriorate rapidly, thus needing to be replaced more often.
