About the HotRC chargerUpdated 3 months ago

The HotRC charger has a display window that shows the present charge of the battery when it is plugged in.

The Home Plus battery ship with a charge of approximately 15.5v (v=volts)

The number showing in the charger display is showing the voltage of the battery. This number will increase as the battery is charged.

The Plus battery is a 14.8v  This is the nominal charge.

  • The maximum capacity is 16.8v (this number slowly declines over time - this is normal)
  • The minimum it should be drained is 12.8v
  • Store the battery between 14.8v - 15.5v
  • Replace your battery once the maximum capacity reaches 80% (13.44v)
It is not recommended to drain the battery below 12.8 volts this may permanently damage your battery.

NOTE: the charger will get very hot during a certain point in the charging cycle, this is normal. What is not normal is if the charger is too hot to hold, or if the case is warped. In either case, unplug the charger and do not use it. It should be replaced.

CAUTION: The battery should always be allowed to come to room-temperature before charging. Charging a hot or cold battery might delay charging or damage the battery. For best results, charge the battery at temperatures between 50º and 80ºF (10º-30ºC).
