Do I need to replace my battery?

Check the condition of your battery. If it is damaged, swollen, or misshaped do not attempt to use or charge it.  Dispose of LiPo Battery Responsibly

If your battery is around a year old or more, it may have come to the end of its life expectancy. Note: a LiPo battery begins to age from the first charge. Once a battery reaches 80% capacity, it's time to replace it.

It needs to be replaced if:

  • The "wrapper" has been removed or torn
  • It has been damaged
  • It it is misshaped
  • If if fails to charge or hold a charge
  • If the voltage has ever dropped below the minimum
  • If the drive is sounding the "low voltage" beep code and charging the battery did not help
  • If the charging instructions were not followed

Even if your battery is new or rarely used, you may need to replace the battery if it isn't working correctly. Click the link for the appropriate article:

CAUTION: The battery should always be allowed to come to room-temperature before charging. Charging a hot or cold battery might delay charging or damage the battery. For best results, charge the battery at temperatures between 50º and 80ºF (10º-30ºC).
