Bullet points for charging 14.8v Plus battery

Using the 14.8v (Home Plus) battery

  • Always fully charge before using.
  • Always use charging bag
  • Always monitor charging
  • Always remove from charger when full
  • Always stop using the battery and recharge when it reaches 13v
  • Always unplug the battery from the drive when not in use
  • Always use the fully charged battery in 2-3 days
  • Always store the battery at ~15.2v and be sure to charge and discharge it every three months.

Note: Brand new the Plus battery maximum capacity 16.8v. As the battery ages/is used the maximum capacity declines. Replace the battery once the maximum capacity reaches 80% capacity (13.44v)

Important: never charge the battery while it is plugged into the drive. Unplug the battery from the drive first before plugging it into the charger.

More detailed info:

  • Always fully charge the battery before each use

The maximum capacity is 16.8v (this number slowly declines over time - this is normal - replace your battery once the maximum capacity reaches 80% (13.44v)

  • Always monitor charging and remove the battery from the charger as soon as it reaches full charge

Be sure to use the charging bag

  • Always stop using the battery before it reaches the minimum voltage of 13v

This is usually around 30 minutes of motor run time
Discharging below 12.8v will permanently damage the battery

  • Always unplug the battery from the drive when not in use - even during short breaks

The battery may continue to discharge - risking over-discharging which will permanently damage the battery

  • Use the fully charged battery within a day or two

If you aren’t going to use the battery, wait to charge it until a day or two before you know you are going to use it.

  • Store the battery between 14.8v - 15.2v

Do not leave the battery fully charged - or with voltage near 13v  - If the batter will not be used within 3 days charge or discharge to nominal voltage (14.8v) - and then fully charge just before use.
