Lifespan of the LiPo battery

What is the general lifespan of the LiPo battery? The short answer is about a year.

As a general rule of thumb, you can expect to replace the battery about once a year depending on how closely you follow the charging, use, and storage instructions it could be a few months longer, or quite a bit sooner.

But both time & use will determine the actual lifespan of your LiPo battery. They begin to "age" from the first charge, so they can naturally decline over time even without using them.

Depending on how they are used, most LiPo batteries typically last 150–250 charge cycles. Leaving them around on a full or depleted charge all the time, running them completely dead, or exposing them to high temperatures will shorten this lifespan dramatically. Avoid exposing the LiPo battery to extreme temperatures.

CAUTION: The battery should always be allowed to come to room-temperature before charging. Charging a hot or cold battery might delay charging or damage the battery. For best results, charge the battery at temperatures between 50º and 80ºF (10º-30ºC).
