If a Pounce pulley seems noisier than it used to be, lint, fur, hair and other debris may have collected under the pulley wheel. Cleaning it out often resolves the issue.
How to Clean the Pounce Pulley
1) Open the pulley
2) Remove the pulley wheel - loosen and remove the center post screw
3) Lift the pulley wheel & bearing off the center post - Use a small brush to remove lint, dust, and any other debris collected inside the pulley.
Important: Pulley Wheel Orientation
The pulley wheel has a “right side up.”
Before reinstalling it, look for the side labeled “UP.” This side must face upward for proper operation.
Reinstalling the Pulley Wheel
- Confirm the “UP” side is facing up.
- Place the wheel and bearing over the center post.
- Replace the center post screw and hand-tighten
⚠️ Important notes:
- Make sure the “UP” side is facing up when reassembling.
- Take care not to strip the screw or lose any parts.
- Pulley components are not available separately, so handle all pieces carefully.
NOTE: it is also possible to just remove the pulley wheel off - leaving the bearing center post screw in place. Just pull up firmly on the pulley wheel and when replacing it, make sure the "UP" side is up and press until it is reseated.
