The drive should not be left outdoors even covered - because morning dew can get inside the drive and corrode the electronics. Corrosion increases electrical resistance, causing extreme heat at the connection point. This intense heat can melt the wire insulation and plastic connectors, create electrical shorts, and directly trigger a thermal runaway, potentially causing the LiPo battery to ignite.
