SwiftPaws home equipment is designed to work with very little tension. The pink band on the Main Drive Unit wheel serves to grip the line.
The pink band should last for years.
Tension is the main reason the pink band becomes damaged.
- Be sure you're including the tethers between the stakes and drive & Pulleys as they are key to maintaining proper tension.
- Make sure the line is making as much contact to the drive wheel as possible - this allows for the light tension SwiftPaws requires for optimum performance.
Before replacing the pink band be sure to clean off any dirt, debris or melted line build-up on the pulley wheel. Check it periodically and remove it as you notice it, before it can build up like the illustration below, as this will quickly chew through the pink band.
Tip - if you place a few drops of dish soap into a cup of water and use your fingers to wet the pink band with the soap mixture - this will make it easier to slip the band into place. Do take care to avoid getting water to get into the drive, as this would damage the electronics inside.
