The Goldilocks Rule - Using a LiPo BatteryUpdated 21 days ago

THE GOLDILOCKS RULE - HOW TO USE YOUR LIPO BATTERY  "JUST RIGHT"

Charging the LiPo battery to full & not using it within 3 days it may damage the battery.

Not charging the battery after use & not using it within 3 days may also damage it.

Charging the battery ONLY to the storage voltage is "just right!  Then charge it to full just before use (or the day before).

You should not completely discharge the LiPo battery. See more: Recharge LiPo Battery Before Fully Discharging - YES! (swiftpaws.com)

A fully charged battery that sits longer than 2 days may become permanently damaged. The same is true if you use the battery but do not charge it to the storage voltages - because if the voltage drops below the minimum voltage for your particular battery, it will become permanently damaged (and will show 000 on the charger).

Click the image of the battery you have and find the article entitled "Voltages: Minimum, Maximum, Storage & Replacement" for your specific battery.

It's a lot to learn, but a MUST to know how to charge, use, and store your LiPo battery - clicking the appropriate battery above will take you to a list of articles specific to that battery - find the article about charging the battery for full instructions.

Note: a swollen battery is in a hazardous state and should not be charged or used. Keep it away from flammables and in the charging bag and disposed of it properly, as soon as possible. Google for a battery recycle center near you. It's dangerous and illegal (in most places) to put then in household trash.
