To turn off the remote:

You can just let it sit and it will power off on its own. 

Or - press and hold the on button until the green light flashes and it vibrates twice. Let go. The LED will go out.

Do not press and continue to hold the power button or it will start to vibrate and continue to do so until you release the button. This will reset the remote and it will need to be recalibrated.
